Public access in Illinois is divided by record type. McDonough County's Sheriff maintains sheriff reports, jail information, and warrant material, while the Circuit Clerk holds filed charges, hearing entries, dispositions, and sentences. The Illinois State Police Bureau of Identification runs the central criminal-history repository. IDOC maintains state custody records, and the Illinois Sex Offender Registry serves a separate registration purpose. Bringing these routes together makes it easier to start with the office that can answer the actual question.
